PIFRA System Faces Technical Glitch
Many government employees in Pakistan are reporting delays in receiving their salary slips for June 2025. The issue is linked to a technical problem in the PIFRA (Project to Improve Financial Reporting and Auditing) system. This system usually sends salary slips through email before the end of each month. However, due to the glitch, most employees did not get their salary slips on time.
PIFRA Confirms Technical Issue
The PIFRA team has confirmed the problem. Officials stated that a system update caused unexpected errors in the automated email process. As a result, the salary slip emails for June 2025 were not sent out as scheduled. The technical team is working to fix the issue and restore normal service.
IT Department Is Working on Fix
PIFRA’s IT department has begun work to resolve the error. The team is checking all scripts and automated tasks linked to salary slip generation. According to officials, the issue may take a few more days to fix completely. The department plans to restart the email dispatch system as soon as the issue is solved.
Employees Are Advised to Wait
PIFRA has advised employees not to re-register or change their email details. The system still holds all user data, and the issue is only with the email delivery part. Once fixed, all pending salary slips will be sent automatically. Employees are also advised not to send multiple complaints, as the team is already aware of the delay.
Salary Processing Is Not Affected
Despite the delay in email delivery, salary payments have not been affected. All government employees received their salaries in their bank accounts on time. The glitch only affects the email notification that carries the monthly salary slip. Employees can confirm their salary through bank statements until they receive the official slip.
PIFRA Portal Still Accessible
Employees who urgently need their salary slips can log in to the PIFRA website. The portal is working fine and allows users to download their slips directly. To access the portal, employees must enter their CNIC number, department code, and registered email. After logging in, they can download the June 2025 slip in PDF format.
Common Issues Faced by Users
Many users report that they are unable to log in to the portal. In most cases, this happens due to forgotten login credentials or incorrect email addresses. PIFRA support suggests using the “Forgot Password” option to recover login access. For other problems, users can contact the official PIFRA support email for help.
Teachers and Health Workers Express Concerns
Teachers and health department employees were among the first to report the issue. These employees often need salary slips for loan applications, income proof, or personal record-keeping. Many expressed frustration on social media. They urged the government to upgrade the system to prevent future delays.
Past Incidents Raise Questions
This is not the first time PIFRA has faced technical problems. In previous years, employees also reported delays in email delivery or access issues on the portal. These repeated issues have raised questions about system stability and the need for better infrastructure.
Calls for System Upgrade
Several employee unions have demanded a full upgrade of the PIFRA system. They say the current system is outdated and cannot handle the growing number of users. They also ask for a backup method, such as SMS alerts or a mobile app, to ensure salary slips reach employees without delay.
Ministry of Finance Aware of the Situation
The Ministry of Finance is aware of the current issue. A spokesperson said the ministry has directed the PIFRA team to resolve the glitch quickly. The ministry also plans to review the system’s performance and suggest improvements in the next review meeting.
